Privacy

Privacy is the point of Trine. This page says, in plain words, what we keep, for how long, who handles it, and how you delete it. Trine is in a private beta, so we'll update this as things change and tell you about anything important.

Our promises

• We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone for their own use.
• Your chats and photos are never used to train AI models.
• Messages in standard chats are deleted 30 days after they're sent.
• Private chats keep nothing once they end: not the messages, not the photos, not a summary.
• You can delete everything at any time.

What we keep

• Your account: your email, display name, optional pronouns, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, and the fact that you confirmed you're 18 or older. If someone enters a birth date under 18, we keep only that fact, never the date.
• Your link with your partner, and the personas you two liked or passed on.
• Standard chats: your messages, your partner's and the persona's replies, and any photos sent in the chat. Each message and photo is deleted 30 days after it was sent. So the persona remembers you, an AI keeps a running summary of the chat; you can read it and delete it at any time from the chat, and it's deleted with the chat.
• Private chats: kept only in memory, never written to disk or backed up, and deleted when you end the chat or after 2 hours without a message.
• Your beta application (if you sent one): only our team can read it.
• Feedback you send us, and reports you make. A report keeps a copy of what you reported and a few messages before it, so we can review it after the chat has expired; that copy is deleted once we've dealt with the report, unless the law requires us to keep it.
• Sign-in sessions record the IP address and browser they started from, until you sign out or they expire.

What we don't keep

• Our logs never contain your messages, photos or answers: only things like account and chat IDs, timings and error codes, and they're kept only for a limited time.
• Trine is only available in some US states, so each visit checks your IP address against a location database on our own servers. That check doesn't store your address.
• No advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics. The only cookie keeps you signed in. Our own statistics are counts (like how many chats started today), never content.

Who handles your data

The AI models are open models we run ourselves. We don't send your chats to an AI company. We do rent the machines they run on, and these companies process data only on our behalf:

• Railway hosts the app, the database and photo storage (encrypted at rest).
• RunPod provides the graphics processors that run the models. Your recent messages pass through them to write a reply, and a photo's description passes through to make the photo. Our code there keeps nothing; a finished photo waits in RunPod's queue for up to 30 minutes until our app collects it.
• Our email provider sends account emails (like confirming your address). Those emails never mention what Trine is or anything you've said.

Safety

Nothing on Trine may involve anyone under 18. Messages and persona replies are checked automatically, and every photo is checked by our own age-estimation service before anyone sees it. When something is blocked, we record that it happened, not what it said. Our team sees chat content only when you report it. We keep data longer only when the law requires it (for example, during an investigation), and we report child sexual abuse material to the authorities as the law requires.

Deleting your data

• Delete a chat or its summary at any time, from the chat.
• Unlinking from your partner deletes every shared chat for both of you after a 7-day grace period, which either of you can cancel.
• Deleting your account (in Settings) removes it immediately, with your application and feedback. If you were linked, your shared chats follow the unlinking rule: your partner can still read them for 7 days, then they're deleted.
• Encrypted database backups are kept for 7 days, so deleted data is gone from them within a week. Private chats and photos are never backed up.
